1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites that you visit. Mobile applications use analogous local storage mechanisms (such as Android SharedPreferences and secure SQLite databases) to maintain state and provide seamless usability.
2. How We Use Cookies & Storage
Because Jay Ho Gurudev is a non-commercial devotional platform, we do not use advertising cookies, marketing pixels, or third-party behavioral trackers.
We use storage strictly for essential operational purposes:
Essential Authentication Tokens
When you sign in with Google or your devotee credentials, an encrypted session token is saved locally on your device so you do not need to sign in every time you open the app to meditate or chant.
Spiritual Preferences & Streaks
Local storage preserves your Jap counter progress, daily streak count, and chosen playback audio volume even when offline.
Security & Rate Limiting
Temporary session identifiers on the website protect our sacred media servers from automated bots, denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, and unauthorized spam.
3. Managing & Clearing Cookies
You have complete control over your cookies and local preferences:
- In the Mobile App: Tapping Logout in the app header immediately wipes your active authentication token and session preferences from the device.
- In your Web Browser: You can block or delete cookies at any time via your browser settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge). Note that disabling essential cookies may require re-authenticating.
