1. Introduction & Devotional Mission
Welcome to Jay Ho Gurudev ("we," "our," or "us"). We are dedicated to providing a serene, spiritual, and peaceful digital sanctuary for devotees worldwide. This Privacy Policy governs your use of our mobile application (Jay Ho Gurudev) and related services.
We hold your privacy sacred. We do not sell, rent, monetize, or exploit your personal information. Our app is consecrated, ad-free, and designed solely to facilitate your daily spiritual practice, including listening to sacred Bhajans, tracking digital Jap chants, reading Daily Saakhi, and participating in devotee satsangs.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect minimal information essential to personalize your spiritual experience and maintain account security:
🔐 Google Sign-In & Authentication Data
When you choose to authenticate using Google Sign-In, we request access to your primary Google Account Email Address, Full Name, and Profile Picture (Avatar). We present an explicit OAuth agreement statement before collecting this information. This data is used solely to generate your secure devotee profile and sync your spiritual streaks.
📿 Spiritual Practice & App Activity Data
We store your digital Jap counter progress (mala completions, streak counters, and dates of chanting), custom devotee username, and community reflections/reactions you voluntarily post.
📱 Device & Technical Information
To ensure proper audio playback, network stability, and push notification routing, our servers log standard non-personally identifiable diagnostic tokens, including device model, operating system version, and IP address.
3. Android Permissions & Foreground Services
Our Android app utilizes the following transparent system permissions strictly for spiritual functionality:
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK: Essential for our devotional Bhajan Player. Allows sacred audio chants to continue streaming smoothly when you turn off your screen, navigate to other apps, or during meditation.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used exclusively to deliver daily morning Saakhi blessings, Purnima satsang alerts, and temple broadcast announcements. You can toggle this permission off at any time in Android settings.
- INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Needed to stream devotional audio from our consecrated media servers and sync your Jap streaks.
- VIBRATE: Provides gentle haptic feedback on your device during digital Jap mala count increments.
4. How We Protect Your Data
All communication between the Jay Ho Gurudev app and our servers is secured using modern TLS/SSL encryption (HTTPS). User authentication tokens are stored securely in protected device storage (`SharedPreferences` with private mode). Passwords, where applicable, are salted and hashed using industry-standard bcrypt algorithms.
5. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We never sell, trade, or monetize devotee data. We do not use third-party behavioral advertising networks or tracking pixels. The only third-party service integrated is Google Sign-In API (Google LLC) to facilitate secure, passwordless authentication.
6. Account Deletion & Data Rights (Google Play Requirement)
In accordance with Google Play's User Data policy, every devotee has the unconditional right to request the deletion of their account and all associated personal data at any time.
How to request complete data deletion:
Send an email from your registered Google email address to privacy@jayhogurudev.org with the subject line "Request Data Deletion - Jay Ho Gurudev". Upon verification, your account, username, email, Jap streaks, and profile details will be permanently purged from our database within 7 business days.
7. Children's Privacy
Our application provides consecrated, family-safe devotional content. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. If a parent or guardian discovers that their child has provided personal data without consent, please contact us immediately for immediate removal.
